Abstract: | The report states that rationalisation has become an all-out employer offensive, with government support, on workers across the board. Rationalisation, as defined, will result in widespread job losses. Subchapters include: Rationalisation in the textile industry (Madras, Kanpur, Bombay, Solapur, West Bengal, Baroda, Ahmedabad); Rationalisation in the jute industry (Work load, accidents); Rationalisation in other industries and centres; Not for increased production; Not helpful to industrial development; Question of rehabilitation; No benefit to the customer; A progressive step?; Consequences of rationalisation; Workers’ resistance; repercussion on wage level; Rationalise managements; Futility of projects; Unite to oppose rationalisation. |
